CELTIC, Northeast Gaul. Uncertain tribe. Circa 60-30/25 BC. Quarter Stater (Gold, 15 mm, 1.55 g, 1 h), 'dérivées locales du statère biface' type. Devolved and disjointed laureate head of Apollo to right. Rev. Celticized horse galloping to right, horseman transformed into pelleted floral ornament; before, star; below, vexillum-shaped ornament above pellet in circle of pearls between two pellets; in exergue, uncertain ornament. DT 335 var. (with differing reverse symbols). LT -. SLM -. An extremely rare variety, perhaps unpublished. Sharp and clear, a lovely coin. Nearly extremely fine.
